A host of footballing stars have sent touching messages to Eden Hazard following his decision to retire at the age of 32.

After 16 years and over 700 matches, Eden Hazard has chosen to end his professional football career at the age of 32.

“I’ve been able to fulfill my dreams, I’ve played and enjoyed the joy on many football fields around the world. In my career, I’ve been fortunate to meet some great managers, coaches, and teammates. Thank you all for these wonderful times; I will remember all of you,” shared the former Belgian midfielder.

Immediately after the announcement, a host of footballing figures sent heartfelt messages to Hazard.

“I’m very honored to have played alongside you. One of the best experiences. Enjoy your new chapter, my friend, you deserve it. Thanks for all the memories and bringing joy to football,” Juan Mata messaged his former teammate.

Frank Lampard, another Chelsea legend, also expressed his emotions upon hearing the news of Hazard’s retirement: “Congratulations, Hazard. Your talent and career have been incredible. It was a pleasure to stand beside you. You’re the number one man in every way. Good luck on your upcoming journey.”

Bruno Fernandes, the captain of Manchester United, commented on Hazard’s post: “Thanks for all the beautiful moments you’ve brought to the world of football. True fans of this beautiful sport really enjoyed watching you play.”

In a distant France, Kylian Mbappe had a brief yet meaningful message for his senior: “Le grand Eden. MERCI,” roughly translated as “The great Eden. THANK YOU.”
