£60m Sancho Transfer: A Fresh Start for Both Player and Man Utd

Following a discord with manager Erik ten Hag during the Premier League loss to Arsenal, Jadon Sancho, the Manchester United forward, has not been part of the first-team squad since.

In the most dramatic of ways, United and manager Erik ten Hag’s burden was relieved on Saturday when Scott McTominay scored twice in injury time to secure a 2-1 victory over Brentford. However, Sancho was not included, as the forward was barred from playing following his public altercation with the Dutch manager last month.

The 23-year-old’s exclusion from the matchday roster against Arsenal last month set off a dispute that Ten Hag ultimately blamed on the player’s subpar workout results. In response, Sancho took to social media, saying he was being used as a “scapegoat” for the club’s hardships.

After arriving from Borussia Dortmund for £73 million in the summer of 2021, the England international has not apologized and it seems that there is no turning back. Although a return to the German team was first suggested, Serie A now seems to be his most likely destination.

The Sun claims that Juventus intends to extend a loan offer to the player in January, with an eye toward a summer transfer. Considering the 23-year-old’s lack of influence in the previous two years, the rumored £60 million cost would still constitute a sizable return for United.

At first, the Italian powerhouses will offer to pay half of his £350,000 weekly salary. Furthermore, Ten Hag will undoubtedly be eager to get the player off the books because FFP laws limited his summer spending.

Sancho played for Dortmund for four years in the beginning, scoring 50 goals in 137 games. Ole Gunner Solskjaer brought him to Old Trafford in a highly publicized transfer after he showed promise in the postponed Euro 2020 competition. However, he failed to reach his peak performance in his first two seasons in Manchester.

Though it seemed like Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure in January of last year opened up greater opportunities, he was only able to make a cameo in the League Cup final victory over Newcastle. His international career has also come to a standstill; Gareth Southgate chose not to include him in the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
