The 38-year-old forward, Cristiano Ronaldo, is reportedly set to extend his contract with Al Nassr until 2027.
According to sources from Reuters, football transfer expert Al Harbi shared that Ronaldo has informed Al Nassr that he wishes to extend his contract until early 2027, when he will turn 42.
Al Harbi stated, “Cristiano wants to participate in the 2026 World Cup while still being a player for Al Nassr, and then he will announce his retirement from the field.” This also implies that the Portuguese superstar is aiming for the 2026 World Cup as his final major tournament in his career.
Before this, CR7 had previously committed to playing until the end of 2024, including the Euro finals. This is the same major tournament that Ronaldo won with his national team in 2016. Currently, the Portuguese player remains a key figure for the national team, with a record of 123 goals in 201 appearances.
In the Euro 2024 qualifiers, Ronaldo has helped Portugal win all six matches. If they achieve a good result against Slovakia on October 13 and Bosnia on October 16, Portugal will secure a spot in the finals.
However, Ronaldo has never won a World Cup, which is why he continues to aspire to achieve that dream. Following Messi’s victory with Argentina in 2022, CR7’s desire has become even more fervent.
So far, Ronaldo has participated in five World Cup tournaments in his career, with his best performance being Portugal’s advancement to the World Cup 2006 semi-finals.
